This feast was the occasion when Jesus publicly declared himself to be the Messiah to the Jews. A time of rejoicing and offering a food offering to the Lord was observed at harvest time. Every year, the third festival is observed by the Jewish people. According to Leviticus 23:33-43, the Festival of the Tabernacles can be celebrated in a variety of ways. This feast is described in Leviticus 23:15-22 in part. Exodus 22:26a tells us to harvest the first fruits of the crops we sow in our fields. During Jesus’ lifetime, Passover was celebrated. From the book of Matthew, Romans 2:6, Mark 14:12-26, and Luke 22:38. It is our responsibility as a body to mourn Jesus’ death on our behalf. The Passover holiday was celebrated with joy by Jesus’ disciples. Exodus is remembered as the day God saved the Israelites from the Angel of Death in Egypt. It is celebrated in the autumn and commemorates the time when the Jewish people lived in temporary shelters in the desert after the Exodus. Sukkot is the third and final harvest festival. The main focus of the holiday is the study of the Torah. It commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Shavuot is the second harvest festival and is celebrated 50 days after Pesach. The main focus of the holiday is the Seder, a meal during which the story of the Exodus is retold. It commemorates the Exodus from Egypt and the liberation of the Jewish people. Pesach is the first of the three harvest festivals and is celebrated in the spring. Each of these festivals has its own unique customs and traditions that are followed. In Judaism, there are three major harvest festivals: Pesach (Passover), Shavuot (Weeks/Pentecost), and Sukkot (Tabernacles/Booths). ![]()
